More of a manic fever rant than an album, Stutter is so grotesque and spasmodic that it rams you into a corner until you can do nothing but choke down its home-brewed indie-guitar arsenic. Thin, spiky, jagged folk music. Songs constructed like the Fire Engines having a few beers with Patti Smith as C.S. Lewis is screaming obscenities at small children. What's really at stake here is not the band's first attempts of Next Big Thing potential, but rather an extraordinary disaster of disagreement. As if a lunatic in his own home-built asylum, Tim Booth is a mere bystander to his wild vocals while the rest of the band watch Gavan Whelan have an absolute fit on -- what sounds like -- four drum kits at once. This is shoddy, shameless chaos. Nothing more than a terribly produced mess of tragic rock-star baiting and deliberate discordance. An amazing debut.

“If you don’t vote it’s on you, not me,” Jim James sings on his second solo album. It’s an election-year entreaty geared towards too-pure leftoid lintheads, but the song is no screed, befitting a guy whose music usually turns inward. James floats his humidly ethereal soul mumble over seven minutes of a languid beat, cottony strings and chill organ bleat. Throughout Eternally Even, the My Morning Jacket mainman renders his change gospel with conversational grace, Bill Withers warmth, Sly Stone optimism and Neil Young conviction.

What's so good?

The results of the American election came as a massive surprise to most and looks certain to redefine America and what it stands for.  While it's still unclear what a Trump win will mean in the long run, his shock victory has already caused much anger and despair amongst American citizens, along with the hip-hop community. Run The Jewels have been very critical of Trump and are as upset and bewildered by his election win as their fans, so much so they have released "2100." Just 24 hours after Trump's ascendancy to the highest position in American politics, the duo of Killer Mike and El-P, along with good friend Boots, have unleashed a song, that, while steeped in frustration, is more about people working together and having hope that they can help make America a better place. The song was accompanied by this message from the duo: "for our friends. for our family. for everyone who is hurting or scared right now. here is a song we wrote months ago. we werent planning on releasing it yet but… well it feels right, now. it's about fear and it's about love and it's about wanting more for all of us. it's called "2100". we hope it finds you well."

What's so good?

Well if THIS isn't just packed with an Aussie all star line-up of up-and-comers then.. well, I don't know. Last week Australian producer Golden Vessel released "Vines," the final single off his 2016 debut Before Sleep EP. The track, which features the ethereal vocals of Melbourne songstress Woodes, has since been remixed by fellow Aussie producer Feki, and what a gorgeous job he's done. "I wanted to take the song, which was already so beautiful and ethereal, and push it to a completely new dimension without losing out on all the good stuff the original has to offer. Both Golden Vessel and Woodes are the homies so it made the whole remix process more enjoyable!" - Feki So without further ado, enjoy!

Danny Green formed the band Laish in Brighton in 2008 and became part of the Willkommen Collective (Sons of Noel and Adrian, The Leisure Society, Rozi Plain). Laish have released two records, their eponymous debut (2010), and Obituaries (2013, Folkwit Records), both recorded by Green at his home. Both received much critical acclaim, with radio plays including BBC6 Music (Marc Riley, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe, Chris Hawkins), BBC Radio 3’s The Late Junction, BBC Scotland (Roddy Hart) and Amazing Radio (Dani Charlton).

Now based in London, Green’s move to the capital, after a life immerged in the Brighton music scene, proved a motivation and inspiration.

“I spent a year of gradually learning to love the pace of life in the city and I finally found the nerve to book a real studio and get to work on the album that had been forming during this turbulent period. I was honest with myself about the sounds and the kinds of songs that excite my ears. I wanted to get across a simple truth but for there to be no barriers to the listener, for it to really sound vibrant, sexy and humorous.” Green explains.
